Leo Alcala, Francisco Calderon Earn Lip Chip Trainer, Jockey Of Week In Remington Park Trials

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 17, 2024–Leo Alcala and jockey Francisco Calderon were dominant in the trials this past week for the $854,775 Remington Park Futurity final and are consequently being recognized as Lip Chip Trainer and Jockey of the Week at Remington Park.

Alcala has three of the top 10 finalists under his care, including the fastest qualifier, in this race for 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred Quarter Horses at 330 yards set for Saturday, April 27. Wire Transfer Remains Undefeated After Setting Fastest Time To PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 14, 2024–42 two-year-old Paint horses competed Sunday afternoon in five trial races to secure a spot in the $159,600 estimated PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity [G1] at Remington Park. The fillies dominated the field, with eight qualifying for the finals alongside two colts.

In the first trial heat, Grade 1 winner Wire Transfer left the competition in the dust after winning by an incredible four lengths and set the time to beat at :16.770 seconds.

Graded Stakes Winner FDD Cloud Draws Post 10 for La Plata Stakes

FARMINGTON, NM--APRIL 15, 2024--FDD Cloud, a 4-year-old son of FDD Going Grand racing for Aurelio Juarez, is one of a dozen aged runners entered in Friday's 400-yard, $75,000 La Plata Stakes at SunRay Park.

FDD Cloud brings in a two-race win streak that includes a victory in the 400-yard, $100,000 Lovington Stakes (G2) at Zia Park on December 17. Omar Vargas trains the sorrel gelding.

FDD Cloud drew post 10 and will be ridden by Alfredo Sigala.

Other contenders include Whiskey Creek, a 4-year-old gelded son of world champion Apollitical Jess trained by Lonnie Vaughn for owner Rancho AA LLC. Whiskey Creek is coming off of a sixth-place finish in a 400-yard West Texas Maturity (G3) trial on March 10. Challenge Trials Dominate Opening-Night Program at Sam Houston Race Park

HOUSTON, TX—APRIL 16, 2024—Sam Houston Race Park will open its 2024 American Quarter Horse meet with a 10-race program dominated by Bank of America Racing Challenge trials. Post time for the first race, a 300-yard first-level allowance dash for sophomore fillies, is set for 6:30 p.m. (CDT) on Friday, April 19.

Twenty-nine 3-year-olds are entered in three 400-yard Adequan Sam Houston Derby Challenge trials. The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the May 10, $40,000-added final.

Lefty, a graded stakes placed son of This Is An Eagle trained by Martin Rodriguez for owner Francisco Guadalupe Guerrero, drew post 8 and will be ridden by Francisco Giles in the first heat. A $6,000 purchase at the 2022 TQHA Yearling Sale in San Antonio, Lefty is coming off of a 2-year-old campaign during which he earned $50,225 from eight races and placed third in the 350-yard, $196,000 ..
